Quadrilateral Guide : Classifications and Properties

I'm going to start a topic which has great importance in field of Mathematics.
when it comes to find an area of quadrilateral, very first thing which come in ones mind that which type of quadrilateral is it ?

Yes..!
In this post we will be discuss over two things i.e.

  1.  Classification of quadrilateral.
  2.  Properties of quadrilateral.

 Types of Quadrilaterals

  • A four sided closed (packed) shape is known as Quadrilateral.

What is Quadrilateral ?

  1.  Square
  2.  Rectangle
  3.  Parallelogram
  4.  Rhombus
  5.  Kite
  6.  Trapezium.

these are the types of quadrilaterals.

Among these Parallelogram is the most important type of quadrilateral as it consist most of the properties which others are also having.

Now I'm going to define each one by one-

  •   Parallelogram-

A Quadrilateral which has a pair of side equal and parallel are known as Parallelogram
and opposite angles are also equal, Diagonal bisects each other, i.e.
What is Quadrilateral ?

  • Square-

A quadrilateral which has all the sides are equal and opposite sides are parallel and each corner angle is right angle (90°), Diagonal bisects each other at 90°, i.e.

What is Quadrilateral ?

  • Rectangle-

A quadrilateral which has opposite sides are equal and parallel and each corner angle is right angle (90°), Diagonal bisects each other, i.e.

What is Quadrilateral ?

  • Rhombus-

A quadrilateral which has all the sides are equal and opposite sides are parallel and Diagonals bisect each other at 90°.
What is Quadrilateral ?

In other words

  • Each Square, Rectangle and Rhombus are Parallelogram but not conversely.
  • To become Parallelogram only one thing is needed to have opposite sides as parallel and this condition is satisfied by each shape mentioned above.

  • Trapezium-

A Quadrilateral is said to be trapezium if only a single pair of side becomes parallel and the other pair need not to be parallel and equal.

  • additionally, If two unequal sides becomes equal then that trapezium is known as isosceles trapezium / trapezoid.

What is Quadrilateral ?

  • Kite-

 In this type of quadrilateral,
pairs of adjacent sides are equal but not to be parallel and longer diagonal bisect the shorter one at right angle.
What is Quadrilateral ?

Hope You find this post worthy, feel free to share and also comment if you want to add something that I'm missing.
